Es werden ausgewählte wissenschaftlichen Methoden des Urban Design aus den Stammdisziplinen Architektur, Stadt- und Regionalplanung, Landschaftsarchitektur und Soziologie thematisiert und Möglichkeiten der Integration vermittelt via methodischtheoretischem Input im Wechsel mit Anwendungsbeispielen und Übungen. Ziel ist es, den interdisziplinären Charakter des Urban Designs in Wissenschaft und Praxis zu verdeutlichen und zu erlernen. Es werden ferner Ansätze zum kritisch forschenden Entwerfen sowie zur raumbezogenen Forschung thematisiert:
The seminar focuses on the scientific methods of the four root disciplines (Architecture, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture and Sociology) of the UD Master; and possibilities of their integration. It consists of sequences with methodological and theoretical input alternating with practical examples and exercises. The aim is to significantly mix methods and tools and give a broad overview of different methods and tools – mirroring the interdisciplinary nature of the Urban Design theory and practice. The seminar consists of four blocks of teaching:
